Hopefully it lasts

Bought as part of the warranty thingy. First impressions upon delivery were that the materials were too thin (especially on the inside), which makes it feel abnormally susceptible to tearing. Zippers seemed to hold up good and should straps are far more flexible than before, which is good. My previous "Big Student" Jansport backpacks always had holes on the bottom so I had to choose one with a leather bottom so that it would actually last this time. The best thing about the newer backpacks is that it seems they got rid of the membrane thing that coated the innards of the backpacks, which later became sticky as the backpacks became older. Since pretty much everyone has a laptop these days, it's nice to have a dedicated slot for a laptop. However in this exchange, I gained bottom durability but lost out on durability everywhere else and also a -2L on capacity from big student-->suede campus. It would appear that unlike the old times, there is now a limited lifetime warranty instead of a full on lifetime warranty, but the company takes care of that well just like how the forums say. Hopefully this one lasts nearly a lifetime, especially since I won't be doing heavy duty student things any longer.

Very Poor Quality!!!

Buyer beware. Bought my daughter the Batik Sunflower backpack for middle school in May/June of 2023. Love the design, the size is awesome and the pockets are great. She was really happy with it at first sight. That said, this is the worst quality backpack we have EVER owned. Within 3 days the mesh side pocket tore. I had to pay to send it back for repairs per JanSport warranty process. Took weeks to get it back. Here we are again, only 1 month into the school year and now the strap broke off. I had to buy a backpack to replace this one while it was sent back to be fixed the first round. Now, I have to pay to mail it back again for repairs even though it's clearly defective. JanSport will not refund unless you mail it back to the company. They will fix it or if the can't, they'll replace it via an e-gift card. Turnaround 4-6 weeks.

Don't Buy!

Worst backpack ever. My daughter wanted this for school & the side strap broke within 1 month of using it.

Great backpack

Love the separate laptop compartment. Nice and roomy, fits all my school binders, lunch, Chromebook, and headphones. Small upper pocket fits my cell phone with easy access.

Different from my original but it's a very nice looking bag

I got this houndstooth print backpack for upcoming travel. The materials are certainly different than my vintage Jansport but I'm willing to give it a chance. Didn't need a laptop sleeve but I like that it's a separate pocket and not overly padded- working also as the rear part of backpack where it sits on your back- it's actually a great compartment for reading materials (magazines and books, travel papers). I do wish there were more organizing pockets besides the few in the front compartment (none anywhere else). The white liner does, as others have mentioned, seem like a bad choice and the material feels/looks iffy but only time will tell if it's durable and if it is I don't really care about the color- in fact it might make it easier to find things since black interior makes it harder. The pattern is very cool in person- had a couple people witness me opening the package (both a male and female) and they both made comments about how nice looking it was. I really like the suede bottom and pigsnout detail. Water bottle pockets actually hold my 20 ounce hydroflask just fine, taller bottles should be ok but I wouldn't say for sure without experience. Jansport stands by their product so I'm going to be putting the pack to the test by using it in my travels!

Not well made

After only 1 week of school the mesh on the side of this backpack has ripped off. Not worth the money and not durable.

Nice but....

Great backpack BUT white?? Why use WHITE on the interior??? Only complaint! I personally still use my JanSport from 20+ years ago... Hoping my daughter's backpack will survive and not be all nasty because of all of the white.
